Setting Up and Supporting the National Nutrition Resource Centre (NNRC)
In 2018, the Tata Trusts launched the National Nutrition Resource Centre (NNRC) with the following objectives:
- Providing technical and operational support to the Central Programme Management Unit (CPMU) of the Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment (POSHAN) Abhiyaan
- Extending technical support to the Swasth Bharat Prerak (SBP) Programme
- Spearheading evidence-driven strategy formulation and convergence under the POSHAN Abhiyaan at the national level
The NNRC works closely with CPMU of the POSHAN Abhiyaan, and The India Nutrition Initiative. The centre also provides support to 36 states and union territories and the State Project Management Units (SPMUs), handholding them for the roll-out and implementation of the POSHAN Abhiyaan.
The NNRC engages with development agencies like the World Bank, UNICEF, CARE, etc, software development partners, research agencies, and academic institutions to enhance programmatic implementation.
By using data analytics, NNRC is generating state- and union territory-specific reports down to the sector level using ICDS-Common Application Software data. These reports will be beneficial to states and union territories in improving service delivery, strengthening intervention mechanisms and addressing bottlenecks that impede programmatic performance on the field.
