WHAT IS
What
might you say is the biggest
problem with working in ‘Philanthropy’?
Not many know of the term and even fewer use
it. Yet, the average Indian has his or her own
viewpoints, perceptions and associations of the sector and
what it stands for.
This report attempts to get a clear understanding of the social sector-
from the terminology commonly used to the impact of the media on
perceptions.
We found that a large number of people associate positive sentiments with
such organisations and feel that they are responsible for bringing about
change in society. However, there also seems to exist contradictory
perceptions due to incidental experiences people have had when dealing
with certain organisations. This has led to some amount of apprehension
and distrust as well.
Hence, it is essential for organisations that are looking to work and
establish themselves in this sector, to build transparency,
accessibility and trust to meet the expectations that people have
of the social sector.
Philanthropic organisations are driven
by three questions:
“Whom
“What does
they do” “How it impact”
they do it”
