The University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Raichur, and the Kalike Yadgir, an initiative by Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT) and Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust (NRTT), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Knowledge Partnership on August 13, 2014 at UAS Raichur. The first phase of the agreement between the two parties is for a period of three years. Through this partnership, UAS will provide technical and backstopping support to Kalike for the agriculture development programme for the farming community in Yadgir, with a clear focus on establishing and strengthening extension mechanisms.
Dr BS Janagoudar, Vice Chancellor, UAS, and Mr Shivakumar, Executive Director, Kalike, signed the MoU. Dr BV Patil, Director of Education, Dr M Chandargi, Head, Department of Agriculture Extension Education and Prof. Yadahalli of UAS; Mr Ganesh Neelam and Ms Rewasa Nishchal of SRTT; and Mr Mounesh V and Ramesh Gongadi of Kalike were present at the occasion.
The Vice Chancellor and Director of Education, UAS, briefed about the activities of the university and assured to provide the required technical support for implementing the Trust’s livelihood activities in Yadgir district. They appreciated the efforts of Kalike and the Trusts, for improving the quality of life of the people in the district. Mr Ganesh Neelam and Mr Shivakumar spoke about Trust’s activities and highlighted the objective and need of the partnership between the UAS and Kalike.
