In a significant step towards advancing social and economic development in Uttarakhand, Tata Trusts has signed a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Uttarakhand and SETU Aayog on 4 June, 2025. The partnership will drive focused initiatives in water resource management, nutrition, health, rural livelihoods, and green energy.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Mr Pushkar Singh Dhami in the state capital Dehradun. The tripartite MoU was signed by Mr Siddharth Sharma, CEO of Tata Trusts; Mr Raj Shekhar Joshi, Hon’ble Vice Chairman of SETU Aayog; and Mr Anand Bardhan, Chief Secretary. Several dignitaries, senior bureaucrats, and government officials were also present at the event, including representatives from key departments and the Chief Minister’s office.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sharma, CEO of Tata Trusts, reaffirmed the Trusts’ support to Uttarakhand and highlighted how strengthening institutional frameworks is central to its broader vision for nation-building.

“At Tata Trusts, we believe that building strong and enduring institutions is central to the idea of nation-building. Over the years, we have worked to create unique models that serve communities with integrity and purpose,” Mr Sharma said.
He noted that the MoU marks a deeper engagement with Uttarakhand and reiterated the Trusts’ alignment with the state’s priorities.
“I am happy to reaffirm our commitment to the sustainable development agenda of the state of Uttarakhand. This MoU marks an important step in deepening our engagement in the state,” he added.
Outlining the Trusts' focus under the new partnership, Mr Sharma further added, “We shall endeavour, with the support of the State Government, to expand our work in critical areas such as water and rural livelihoods, while enhancing our initiatives in health, nutrition, and education. Through this partnership, the Trusts will try and bring in our expertise in technological innovation, system strengthening, and climate-resilient models to improve the quality of life for communities across Uttarakhand.”
The Hon’ble Chief Minister, Mr Dhami, lauded the partnership as a reflection of the Trusts’ commitment to Uttarakhand’s holistic development.
Vice Chairman of SETU Aayog, Mr Joshi, emphasised the importance of this collaboration, noting that SETU Aayog is dedicated to fostering innovation, robust implementation, program monitoring and evaluation frameworks and effective coordination among all stakeholders in this programme. He further highlighted the commitment and quality that the Tata Group stands for.
Chief Secretary, Mr Bardhan, added that the partnership would bolster efforts to implement evidence-based programmes and drive innovation across key sectors in the state.
The collaboration aims to leverage Tata Trusts' technical expertise and experience in rural development, aligning with the state’s vision of inclusive growth and sustainability. It also fosters a spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility among all stakeholders, with the ultimate goal of making a notable positive impact in the social sector in Uttarakhand.
The partnership will run until March 31, 2035. It brings together government systems and philanthropic expertise in a shared mission to improve lives, support innovation, and scale workable solutions.
