‘Expressing gratitude’ was the theme at ImPaCCT (Improving Paediatric Cancer Care and Treatment) Foundation’s annual donor meet held on November 29, 2024 at Mumbai. ImPaCCT Foundation was established as the paediatric cancer care foundation of Tata Memorial Centre in October 2010 to ensure that every child coming to the hospital receives treatment and other support, regardless of the family background.
The CEO of Tata Trusts, Siddharth Sharma who was invited as the Chief Guest at the event, inspired the audience with his visionary and compelling address. Guests of honour were Bhushan Gagrani, Municipal Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC); Sanjay Kandhare, Principal Secretary, Water Supply and Sanitation; and actor Manisha Koirala.

Mr Sharma lauded the performance of the children at the event and expressed his heartfelt admiration for them saying, “When we see young children suffer, and in the middle of all the suffering, display courage, vitality, vivaciousness, this huge zest for life, it tells us that whatever the adversity, we can always overcome it.”
The Tata Trusts’ focus on supporting paediatric cancer care began in 2011, alongside steps to fund diagnostics, transplants, and cutting-edge therapies. A key initiative has been the support for indigenous CAR T-Cell therapy, an innovation which has given hope to countless children.
Mr Sharma acknowledged and appreciated the dedication of India’s public health system personnel. |
Mr Sharma spoke about late Mr Ratan N. Tata, under whose leadership the Tata Medical Center was established in Kolkata, as well as the network of 18 cancer care facilities in Assam. The Tata Trusts’ CEO appreciated the efforts of India’s public health system personnel, who go much beyond the call of duty to serve cancer patients. “We know that we stand on the shoulders of giants,” said Mr Sharma.
