Nearly six months after the peak of the first wave in
September 2020, the number of infections due to
the Coronavirus started rising again in the first week
of March 2021, heralding the arrival of the second
wave of the pandemic. As on March 31, 2021, daily
new infections have risen to over 55,000 and, as in
the first wave, the Trusts will gear up to the
challenge, with efforts to enhance medical
infrastructure across the country, more so in areas
with disadvantaged populations and sub-optimal
medical facilities. Efforts will also cover ramping up
vaccination drives as well as facilitating vaccinations
of employees and their families.
