Kalike Samruddhi Upakram

Yadgir district in Karnataka has a primarily agrarian society that experiences large-scale seasonal migration for employment, contributing to low school enrolment and retention rates, drop in grade-appropriate learning, etc. In October 2007, Tata Trusts launched the Kalike Samruddhi Upakram (KSU) – Learning Enhancement Programme to improve the quality of elementary education in the backward district of Yadgir. In June 2012, ‘Kalike’ was registered as a nodal agency for interventions under KSU.

In 2015, under its long-term vision as an institution, Kalike initiated a matrix approach, with emphasis on the integration of Education, Health, and Livelihood interventions that would contribute towards achieving a larger impact on overall human development.

The key areas of focus are:

  • Early Childhood Development
  • Enhancing Livelihoods
  • Skill Building
  • Water & Sanitation (School and Community)
  • Education (Primary and Secondary)
