Strong learning begins early and needs to be sustained through every stage of a child's educational journey. The Tata Trusts support approaches that strengthen the foundations for learning, nurture curiosity and engagement, and help children build the knowledge and capabilities they need to progress confidently through school and beyond.
The Trusts' initiatives aim to create a conducive learning environment for children through continuous capacity building and supportive supervision for Anganwadi workers and helpers.

The Tata Trusts advance foundational learning through a dual approach of strengthening classroom practice and advancing the broader education ecosystem.

Across multiple states, programmes focus on improving foundational literacy and numeracy by enabling teacher professional development, improving classroom practices, creating print-rich learning environments, activating school libraries, supporting School Management Committees, and developing contextual teaching-learning materials.
Complementing these efforts, the Early Learning Network of India (ELNI) brings together practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to reinforce early learning through research, professional development, policy engagement, and the dissemination of evidence-based practices that can influence education systems at scale.
